The continuity of residence is not affected by temporary absences not exceeding 6 months per year, nor by longer absences for military obligations, nor by absences of up to 12 consecutive months for professional reasons in another EU Member State or third country.
Once Permanent Residence under the Withdrawal Agreement has been obtained, the right is only lost after 5 consecutive years of absence from national territory.
